Welcome to Colorado At It's Best's Website

Colorado At Its Best seeks to improve the quality of life for Coloradans through tax reform, government transparency and free market advocacy.

Tax Reform

Ever-increasing taxes is an indicator of government failure to manage services and finances effectively.  Politicians and bureaucrats havea civic duty to provide maximum services at minimum expense.

Many government services can be improved by moving them from the monopoly sector to the competitive sector (which also increases the tax base).  CAIB opposes most tax increases as unnecessary.  CAIB favors reforms that bring the cost of services close to those individuals benefitting from those services.

Government Transparency

CAIB wishes to expose government actions to the public.  Because governments and politicians use the dollars of taxpayers, taxpayers have a right to know and governments have an obigation to disclose how funds are used.

Events surrounding outlays are equally relevant to disclosure.  Voters are too-often manipulated by false or half-true information.  Often governments themselves lack information critical to good decision making.

As one example, government accounting is so incomplete and misleading that it is not helpful to managers in making good decisions.  The travesty of this example is so extreme that government accounting is probably so flawed that it cannot be repaired.  Citizens should not have to struggle or fight to secure basic information from their governments.  Budgets, meeting dates, minutes, election dates, election results and much more should be readily available on the internet to Colorado citizens.

Free Market Advocacy

Free market advocacy includes recognition that all individuals are the owners of themselves.  Property they create either by labor or intellect belong to them alone.  A decision by anyone other than themselves as to the disposition of their property is equivalent to theft and slavery.

Market competition, as opposed to government monopoly, utilizes property rights to both improve services and lower costs.  Government monopoly of  services does injury to both taxpayers and consumers in the form of higher costs and poorer services.

Areas of free market advocacy includes, but is not limited to, transportation choice, school choice, and the intrusion of government into service areas served by privately owned taxpaying entitites.  CAIB opposes corporate welfare, tax subsidies and protective regulation.
